Former X Factor judges Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue are among the names being tipped to star on new BBC One talent show The Voice.

The programme, which will see contestants take part in a "blind" audition, is due to launch on the channel next year.

Minogue and Cole, who was dumped from the US X Factor and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger last month, are both being touted for the judging panel, reports BBC News.

The show, devised by Big Brother creator John de Mol, achieved record viewing figures when it was first shown in Holland.

A US version debuted in April and has featured the likes of Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green on its panel.

The series consists of three phases, starting with an initial audition where the judges hear but do not see contestants.

Next the successful entrants are mentored by four famous "judges/coaches", before the show culminates with a number of live broadcasts where viewers will decide on the hopefuls' fate.

"It's a big, exciting and warm-hearted series and will be a fantastic Saturday night event," BBC One controller Danny Cohen commented.
