Simon Cowell is reportedly going to double the salaries of Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland to entice them back to X Factor next year.

In doing so, he's seemingly shut the door for Cheryl Cole to return to the talent show.

An insider told The People: "Simon loves Kelly and Tulisa and there is zero chance of either of them losing their place on the panel next year."

They added:

Simon believes Tulisa is the next Cheryl and will be even bigger. Now there is no hope for Cheryl. Any hope she had that she would be back next year has been dashed because these two girls have smashed it.

Gary Barlow has also made a good impression, and is likely to sign up to return in 2012, although there are thought to be doubts over the future of veteran judge Louis Walsh.

Any fears over the new-look judging panel were put to bed when 'The X Factor' returned for a new run last month. The series came back in August to a record high of 11.1 million viewers.
