Chester French man tries to dig himself out of Peaches Geldof-shaped hole
Max Drummey sorry for claiming marriage was a 'publicity stunt'
Chester French's Max Drummey has backtracked on claims that he married Peaches Geldof for publicity.
The guitarist has been quoted in various newspapers saying their union had been solely for the benefit of his career.
"It was totally a publicity stunt. 100%. I have Peaches on retainer," he apparently said, before making a joke regarding Chris Brown and his alleged assault on estranged girlfriend Rihanna.
However, Drummey has since issued a statement claiming his remarks were a joke that got out of hand.
"My comments made regarding my marriage were not intended to be taken seriously," he said. "I apologize for those comments as well as the obviously stupid, obviously false things that I said regarding Chris Brown.
"These statements reflect neither reality nor my opinion. It was wrong to make them. I am sorry."
