Nile Rodgers joined Charli XCX for an unaccompanied rendition of the latter's 2014 single 'Boom Clap' at a recent launch event in New York for music streaming service MixRadio.

Footage of the performance (presumably unauthorised) was captured and uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday (May 19), and MixRadio have since posted an official promo for the launch of its commercial iOS and Android apps featuring a segment of the song spliced with some interview snippets. Rodgers is currently working on a new Chic album, which is expected to be released this summer. Guests to appear on the LP – the band's first since the release of 1992's 'Chic-ism' – will include Elton John and Janelle Monae. Fans have already been giving a teaser with the song 'I'll Be There', the group's first single in 23 years, and an accompanying video starring US super-model Karlie Kloss.

Charli, meanwhile, will co-headline a US tour this summer alongside Bleachers, the side project of Fun guitarist Jack Antonoff. While they won't be appearing in the UK together, Bleachers are due to perform Glasgow's The Garage venue on July 5 and the Academy 3, Manchester on July 6. Charli is set to appear at this summer's Wireless Festival, Reading & Leeds Festival and Bestival.
