Chris Brown pleads not guilty in alleged Rihanna assault
Singer appeared in court in Los Angeles today (April 6)
Chris Brown has appeared in court in Los Angeles and pleaded not guilty to threatening and assaulting Rihanna.
The singer was present in court with his attorney Mark Geragos and spoke quietly, according to the Associated Press. His mother was in the front row.
Brown was charged with felony assault likely to cause great bodily injury and making criminal threats last month, after an incident in the early hours of February 8.
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, is not identified by her performer name in the court records, which instead lists the victim as Robyn F.
Brown could be sentenced to probation or nearly five years in prison if found guilty.
The case returns to court on April 29.
