Chris Brown seeking to delay Rihanna assault case

Singer's lawyer calls for access to police records

Chris Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos has called for a delay in his assault case in California Supreme Court to gain access to police personnel and investigative records.

A decision is yet to be made as to whether the preliminary hearing, which is due to take place on June 22, will be put off.

Brown, 19, has pleaded not guilty to assaulting and threatening his singer girlfriend Rihanna in February.

The chart-topping artist, real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty, has been asked to appear as a witness and it is thought she is likely to testify in the case, reports BBC News.

Brown faces up to four years in prison if convicted of the charges.
