Chris Brown has suffered a seizure brought on by "extreme emotional stress".

The US singer suffered a non-epileptic seizure in the early hours of August 9 at the Record Plant recording studios in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The 24-year-old was examined by a doctor but did not have to go to hospital.

Confirming the seizure, a representative told Us Weekly: "While in the studio working, Chris suffered a nonepileptic seizure (NES). His doctor tended to him this afternoon and attributes the NES to intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, both due to the continued onslaught of unfounded legal matters and the nonstop negativity."

Earlier this month Brown said that his forthcoming new album, 'X', is likely to be his last. The singer took to Twitter to tell fans the news. 'X' is set for release on August 19 and will be Brown's sixth studio album. It features collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Ludacris, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna and Diplo, as well as 'Don't Think They Know', which features vocals from the late Aaliyah. Brown wrote: "Don't worry mainstream America. After this X album, it'll probably be my last album."

He then added, presumably about the domestic violence charges he was found guilty of after beating up then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009: "Being famous is amazing when it's for ur music and talent. I'm tired of being famous for a mistake I made when i was 18. I'm cool & over it!"
