Chris Brown to remain in jail until April after rehab arrest
A judge was troubled by comments the rapper and singer made about being good at using guns and knives
Brown was apprehended on Friday (March 14) after being dismissed from the facility in Malibu where he was being treated for anger management, substance abuse and bipolar disorder, Billboard reports.
Speaking in court yesterday (March 17), Superior Court Judge James R Brandlin said he was worried by a comment Brown made during a group therapy session, during which he said he was good at using guns and knives.
Staff at the facility cited three other violations of its rules, claiming Brown refused to take a drug test, made a statement that alarmed rehab officials, and was seen touching the elbow of a female client despite having signed an agreement to stay at least two feet away from all female clients.
Outside court, Brown's lawyer said his client was having had a bad day at the facility and that he would petition for Brown to be released earlier.
Brown entered the facility in November, after being sentenced to three months of in-patient rehab. This was recommended by probation officers overseeing him after he was punished for the attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna before the 2009 Grammy Awards.
The probation for that assault had been due to end this year, but the judge revoked it after Brown was arrested for a separate assault in Washington. Brown will go on trial for that case on April 17.
Brown's fifth album, 'X', has been delayed several times. A new release date has not yet been set.
