Chris Brown is set to remain in prison, after violating a court order.

The artist was arrested at a California rehab centre in March after being dismissed from the facility in Malibu where he was being treated for anger management, substance abuse and bipolar disorder. Speaking in court on March 17, Superior Court Judge James R Brandlin said he was worried by a comment Brown made during a group therapy session, during which he said he was good at using guns and knives.

Brown will now spend another week in jail following a judge's orders, given on May 1, reports BBC Newsbeat. Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos has commented, saying he is "hopeful" that the case would soon be resolved. "I'm hopeful that we get it resolved, and we get it resolved quickly. He turns 25 next week. So I'd like to give him an early birthday present if I can," he commented. Brown is back in court on May 9 - his birthday is May 5. He had been transported to Los Angeles from from Washington DC for the recent hearing, during which the handcuffed artist did not speak, but did smile at his mother, who was in the courtroom.

Brown entered the rehab facility in November, after being sentenced to three months of in-patient rehab. This was recommended by probation officers overseeing him after he was punished for the attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna before the 2009 Grammy Awards.

The probation for that assault had been due to end this year, but the judge revoked it after Brown was arrested for a separate assault in Washington. If it is seen that he did violate the terms of his probation for the offence, Brown could face more time in jail

Brown's fifth album, 'X', has been delayed several times. A new release date has not yet been set.
