Chuck D, Katy Perry and Green Day tweet about the death of Osama bin Laden

Stars from the US and UK voice their opinions on the al-Qaeda founder's killing

A host of musicians have spoken out about the death of Osama bin Laden via Twitter.

The al-Qaeda founder was killed in the city of Abbottabad in Pakistan earlier today (May 2), by American troops.

“I believe in justice... but don't u think that an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind?” tweeted Katy Perry.

Chuck D of Public Enemy’s tweet was thick with sarcasm: “USA is at it again , number one in the rankings of Killing Championships. Stealing the Gold in the Murder Olympics, and the crowd goes wild!”

“Do not turn the man into a martyr” said Billie Joe Armstrong, frontman of Green Day, adding “This is a global victory.”

Meanwhile Frank Turner simply quoted American author Mark Twain: "I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure."
