Chvrches hit back at Linkin Park's 'Disney music' jibe with three-hour spoof video – watch

The YouTube clip shows the nu-metal band's Mike Shinoda with an 'I love Chvrches' speech bubble

Chvrches have hit back at Linkin Park rapper Mike Shinoda, who previously called them "Disney Commercial music".

Yesterday, an interview emerged showing the synth-pop trio calling the nu-metal band's music "pointless", with singer Lauren Mayberry saying his comments were "complete bullshit".

Now the band have released a spoof video apologising for the comments. The three-hour YouTube clip, which you can watch above, is titled 'Mike Shinoda 3 hr Chvrches megamix' and features an image of Shinoda with a speech bubble proclaiming "I love Chvrches" as The Knack's 'My Sharona' plays on a loop in the background. Tweeting the video, Chvrches wrote: "Sorry mike ;-)".

Shinoda made the comments in an interview with Noisey back in April, when he said: "There’s so much music out there; there’s so much stuff that sounds like Haim or Chvrches or Vampire Weekend that I’m full. The thing I’m hungry for is not that. I turn on the rock station in LA and it sounds like Disney commercial music."

Responding to his comments in an interview with Swiss TV channel Joiz, Mayberry said: "It’s not an opinion I would worry about hugely," she said. "It’s not my kind of music. They’ve been on the radio for how long, and I just don’t listen to that radio station. That’s a smarter move than saying something for a tagline… I think that’s silly. Live and let live. I will continue to probably not buy Linkin Park albums."
