Cliff Richard's house searched by police in relation to alleged sexual offence

A number of items have been removed from a property in Berkshire

Cliff Richard fans accused Oasis of ripping off their idol (October 2008). Users on internet forums claimed that 'The Turning', the second track on 'Dig Out Your Soul', was similar to Richard's 1976 song 'Devil Woman'. "This is a rip-off," claimed one forum poster. "What'll they do next? Remix 'Mistletoe And Wine'?" Pic: PA Photos
A house belonging to Cliff Richard has been searched by police in relation to an alleged historical sex offence.

A number of items were removed from the property in Berkshire for further investigation, but no arrests have been made, reports BBC News.

A police spokesman said the allegation involved a boy under 16 and dated from the 1980s in the South Yorkshire area.

The search is not connected to Operation Yewtree, but officers from that operation have been notified, a South Yorkshire Police spokesman added.
