T.I. remains in jail on weapons charges

The rapper will stay in custody until bail hearing

T.I. was ordered today (October 15) to remain in jail until a bail hearing later this week.

The rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia this weekend and charged with possession of illegal weapons, as previously reported.

He appeared in a US Federal Court today wearing a black shirt and black jeans, reports the Associated Press.

The government wants the rapper to remain in custody while the case is being investigated, but his attorneys intend to argue for his release on bail at the Friday hearing.

The arrest came as a result of an investigation that began earlier in the month in which it was alleged that Harris' bodyguard was purchasing machine guns for the rapper. It happened hours before he was scheduled to perform at the Black Entertainment (BET) Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.
