Bedtime For Toys channel Gwen Stefani at Club NME LA

LA electro-funk maestros raise the roof

Los Angeles electro-funk quintet Bedtime For Toys got a packed house dancing at Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture Wednesday night (February 27).

Channelling Gwen Stefani and wearing gold hot pants, lead singer Marchelle Bradanini adeptly traded rap verses with keyboardist Toussaint Christophe throughout their 45-minute set.

"We're here all the way from Korea Town, so you better get dancing," Bradinini quipped before launching into their ode to Los Angeles 'San Vicente'.

The band's high energy was contagious and crowd members spontaneously began break dancing in the front row.

The band previewed a new song, 'My Last Goodbye', which featured a guest viola player. They also covered Bobby Brown's 1980s hit 'Don't Be Cruel'.

The band played:

'Say Boom'
'Chandalier'
'Mona Lisa'
'Flashback'
'My Last Goodbye'
'Don't Be Cruel'
'Cold Fever'

Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night.

Next Wednesday (March 5), Howlin Rain are set to play Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture.
