Foals gear up for major CMJ showcase tonight

Foals geared up for their performance at the Sub Pop showcase tonight with a capacity show at Pianos on New York’s Lower East Side.

The Oxford band took to the stage at 3.45 for the Brooklyn Vegan party, which also saw performances from Tiny Masters Of Today and The Maccabees.

Kicking off with ‘French Open’, the band made their way through a seven-song set, including ‘Olympic Airwaves’, which frontman Yannis Philippakis told the crowd is “about Heathrow Airport, which sucks at Christmas time”, and the band’s own current favourite, ‘Red Sox Pugie’.

Closing with ‘Hummer’, Philippakis thanked the crowd, adding: "It’s nice to see so many smiling friendly faces so far from home.”

They played:

‘French Open’
‘Cassius’
‘Balloons’
‘Olympic Airwaves’
‘Heavy Water’
‘Red Sox Pugie’
‘Two Step Twice’
‘Hummer’

Foals play the official Sub Pop showcase at Bowery Ballroom tonight at 10pm.
