Ex-Coheed And Cambria bass player Michael Todd has been sentenced to one year's home confinement and three years probation after pleading guilty to armed robbery.

The bassist was arrested on July 10 2011 and charged with armed robbery over accusations that he had entered a pharmacy in Massachusetts and told the cashier he would detonate a bomb unless he was given a large amount of the painkiller Oxycontin.

He subsequently plead guilty to the charges and this week was sentenced to 365 days home confinement or house arrest as it is more commonly known, reports The Sun Chronicle.

Home confinement is a lenient alternative to prison and usually allows those who are sentenced to continue in their regular employment, but be confined to their homes during non-working hours.

They can also leave the house for specific, predetermined purposes, such as attending a doctor's appointment. As part of his sentence, Todd must also continue drug treatment and submit to random drug testing.

Coheed And Cambria have since replaced Todd with former AM To AM man Zach Cooper. They have also replaced their drummer Chris Pennie with former sticksman Josh Eppard rejoining the band.

Coheed And Cambria are currently working with producers Michael Birnbaum and Chris Bittner on the follow-up to their 2010 album 'Year Of The Black Rainbow' and recently made a new track 'Sentry Of The Defiant' available as a free download.

They return to the UK this summer to play Reading And Leeds Festivals and are also set to tour North America as the main support band to Iron Maiden.
