Coheed And Cambria have revealed full details of the first half of their new double album 'The Afterman'.

The album will come in two parts, with the first, which is named 'The Afterman: Ascension', released on October 8. The second half, which is titled 'The Afterman: Descension', is set for release in February. It has been produced by Michael Birnbaum and Chris Bittner.

The band have confirmed the tracklisting for the album, with nine tracks set to feature on the record, including a four-part series titled 'Key Entity Extraction'.

You can hear the first part of this, which is named 'Key Entity Extraction I: Domino The Destitute', by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

As with the band's previous releases, their new albums are set within the alternative universe of Heaven's Fence and are part of a long-term story series called 'The Amory Wars'.

'The Amory Wars', which were picked up by Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson of Leverage Productions to be developed into a live-action feature film earlier this year, tell the story of the rise of superhuman dictator Wilhelm Ryan, and the one family that could hold the key to liberating the world from his tyrannical reign.

'The Afterman' itself focuses on a character named Sirius Amory, the most celebrated astronomer/scientist in the alternate universe of Heaven's Fence, who is credited with the discovery of the energy force (known as The Keywork) that binds the 78 planets of these worlds together.

Coheed And Cambria will play a short UK tour for November. The band will play four shows on the run, kicking off at London's Koko on November 8, before moving onto Glasgow's O2 ABC on November 9, Birmingham's O2 Academy on November 11 and finally Manchester's HMV Ritz on November 12.

The tracklisting for 'The Afterman: Ascension' is as follows:

'The Hollow'
'Key Entity Extraction I: Domino The Destitute'
'The Aftermath'
'Mothers Of Men'
'Goodnight, Fair Lady'
'Key Entity Extraction II: Hollywood The Cracked'
'Key Entity Extraction III: Vic The Butcher'
'Key Entity Extraction IV: Evagria The Faithful'
'Subtraction'
