The Coldplay star discusses his planned new direction

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has revealed his future musical plans – he wants to study classical music.

But fans of the band needn’t worry – there’s at least ten years to go before he considers switching roles.

The star, 29, says he’ll consider switching from rock music when he’s "too old" to be in a band anymore.

He told the New York Post: "When I'm 40, too old to be a rock star, I plan to go back to college to study classical music.”

Martin made the comments at a New York Philharmonic concert featuring music from the films of Steven Spielberg, who is the godfather of Martin’s actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow.

Coldplay will return to the UK next month to headline the Isle Of Wight festival on the last night (June 12).
