Coldplay and Kylie to get corporate sponsorship?
EMI to offer brands chance to 'sponsor' artists
The record company, which is expected to announce around 2,000 job cuts today (January 15), is looking at ways it can boost revenue following its take over by private equity company Terra Firma.
According to Marketing Week the label, whose acts include the likes of Coldplay, Babyshambles and Kylie Minogue, will allow companies to associate themselves with their release, although the exact nature of the “sponsorship” is yet to be revealed.
As previously reported, several artists including The Verve, Robbie Williams and Coldplay are said to be unhappy with the changes and are considering withholding their albums from EMI.
