Violet Hill is an awesome comeback from an awesome band. I haven't got a vinyl player though so i can't comment on A Spell A Rebel Yell, but i'm sure it's just as good. Chris Martin and co. know how to put a mysterious and guitar laden songs together, and Violet Hill is no different. I like the new direction. Maybe they haven't gone exactly into the Radiohead style they were aiming for, but they've interpreted a similar sound...a copy would just be boring. I'm sure Viva La Vida and Death and All His Friends will be a perfect follow up to X and Y, Violet Hill demonstrates this. Let's just hope they tour...soon.
