Coldplay announce UK arena tour

Chris Martin and co. line up gigs for December

Coldplay have announced full details of a UK tour, set to take place this winter.

The group, who release their fourth album 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' on June 12, will play ten arena dates in December.

The tour kicks off with two nights at Birmingham NIA on December 1, before the group end their trip with a two-night stint at London's O2 Arena, beginning on December 14.

The group also made their album's title track available on iTunes on Sunday (May 25), following the earlier release of 'Violet Hill', the vinyl version coming free with NME last month.

Coldplay will perform at:

Birmingham NIA (December 1, 2)
Glasgow SECC (5, 6)
Sheffield Arena (7)
Liverpool Echo Arena (10)
Manchester MEN Arena (11, 12)
London O2 Arena (14, 15)

Tickets go on sale at 9.30am on May 30.

I guess the souless O2 arena is the perfect platform for Coldplay.....

Is it just me that is amazed at how Coldplay have gotten so undeseveredly big? They've got a couple of good songs at best, but nothing that makes moves me any great deal. They're so so boring. Plus, Chris Martin is an absolute plank. Just looking at that picture of him holding that stupid guitar thing makes me spit venom onto my computer screen... I should get out more.

its getting boring 'rudimentary', for a codplpay hater your first to comment on every one of their stories??you sad little man, Coldplay are the best britian, END OF.

Rudimentary how the hell do you get onto these stories so fast? Give it a rest yeah.

Listen to AdamShanklyUK 'Wheelie 123' and u might learn summat.....like how to spell

The O2 isn't souless. It's really great. They've made is big enough to fit loads of people in, but if you get good enough seats, it feels really intimate.

Wo, wo, wo sweet child o' mine... I do like Coldplay, "Yellow" and "The Scientist" are flawless little monsters of songs. But, I just don't get how they're so big, ya'know? Whatever, I'm off for a sandwich...

its_rudimentary - why don't you and others who describe coldplay as "souless" (and, by the way, before you criticise wheelie123's spelling I think you should correct "souless" to soulless) just let those supposedly boring enough to listen to Coldplay listen to them while you listen to stuff that you like, you're never to convince Coldplay fans to come round to your opinions - if you ask me your constant whingeing on here seems a pretty "souless" (your spelling, not mine) existence. Goodnight.

Rudimentary - Do you not think your comment about Wheelie getting spelling advice is a little hypocritical? You slate Wheelie's spelling (which is clearly a typo) by leaving a comment "u might learn summat.....like how to spell"U? Summat? Hypocrit.

Wheelie 123, what are you on about? I can only assume that you live in a very sad little world if you genuinely regard Coldplay as best of British!!!! Maybe get your head out of the Tofu and go to a few gigs......

tT folks like rudimentary: Why bother commenting on bands you dont like, are you just trying to piss everyone off? Why are you even reading their news if you dont like them?? Music is subjective, it affects different people in different ways, no-ones forcing you to go to Coldplay gigs, so just ignore them. I mean, youve commented on nearly every Coldplay story...you seem to have a pretty big obsession for a band you dont even like...

I see they have ignored the south and south west again. Not everybody can afford to go to the soulless O2 Arena. Also they have ignored the north east, so hopefully they will announce more dates

Bring on these gigs, cannot wait!Its_rudimentary needs to stop being pedantic and commenting on these articles. Roll on with the album so that insufference that the music causes can be inflicted upon Its_rudimentary with the overwhelming airplay that it will receive!

oh no, another coldplay album and tour, more of arrogant chris martin everywhere, and terry wogan listeners trading in their katie melua CDs and pretending they know how to rock out

Don't usually comment of Coldplay, but I agree, apart from 2 possibly 3 songs they just another average band. To the ar$e who thinks they are the best in this country you really are a small minded little kid. And you you dictionary nerds get back to listening to radiohead you cretins! Oh have I spelt it right! Knobs!

BbqMonkey

May 27, 2008

I can not wait to go see them at the 02 and I am tired of seeing people moan about this band. No one cares you don't like them, I am sure you would not like it if people started to moan about a band you liked. And clearly they do have talent seeing as they have more money then you or I will ever have and can do places like the 02. Bring on the 02:D

Most of the coldplay haters on here i bet like oasis libertines/babyshambles so 4 non drug taking middle class white boys who make amazing music would wined them up and yeah i also think they are the best band in this country by far and if you dont like it tough thats my opinion or am i not allowed one
