Coldplay release free 'Viva La Vida' download

Find out how you can download the new remix on NME.COM

Coldplay have released a free download of a new 'Viva La Vida' remix onto their official website.

The Thin White Duke's reworking of the song will be available for fans to download "until the Twelfth Night" (January 5).

The Thin White Duke, whose real name is Stuart Price, previously remixed the band’s 2006 single 'Talk'.

Chris Martin's band have also uploaded a video of their cover of festive track 'Jingle Bells' onto the site, which was performed with actor Simon Pegg at London's 02 Arena on December 16.

A short message to fans also reads: "Happy Christmas, folks".

The original version of 'Viva La Vida' hit Number One in the UK when it was first released last May.

Guitarist Joe Satriani announced earlier this month (December 8) that he plans to sue Coldplay for plagiarism over the track.

Chris Martin, however, subsequently told NME Radio that the similaries between 'Viva La Vida' and Satriani's 'If I Could Fly' are a \"coincidence\".

Considering the song might have been stealed from some unknown artist, it was free to do it, so it's fair they release it for free.
