Coldplay win Grammy for Rock Album Of The Year

Chris Martin says he's 'gonna tear up'

Coldplay won the Grammy for Album Of The Year for 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles tonight (February 8).

This is one of several awards the band has taken home so far this evening, including Song Of The Year and Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group with Vocals.

"Thank you so much, we've never had so many Grammys in our life," Martin said when accepting the award. "I'm gonna tear up."

Coldplay beat off competition from:

Kid Rock - 'Rock N Roll Jesus'
Kings Of Leon - 'Only By The Night'
Metallica - 'Death Magnetic'
The Raconteurs - 'Consolers Of The Lonely'
