Coldplay paid tribute to R.E.M during their live show in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday night (September 24).

R.E.M announced that they had split up after 31 years together on Wednesday (September 21), saying that they parted amicably.

Coldplay, who have cited the group has a huge influence on them, headlined the Music Midtown festival in R.E.M's home state and paid a personal tribute to the band, covering their seminal single 'Everybody Hurts', reports Consequence Of Sound. One of our favourite bands of all time, REM, for some crazy reason have finished and it's sad. So with the most respect in the world, this is just to show how much they meant to us.
