Coldplay have announced plans to stream a live gig online from Los Angeles this afternoon (October 18).

The band will be performing tracks from their fifth studio album 'Mylo Xyloto' at an intimate show at 3.30pm (BST), which will be streamed live via Ustream.

The concert is a collaborative project organised by Red Bull and LA station KROQ radio. Coldplay will release 'Mylo Xyloto' in the UK next Monday (October 24).

They will tour the UK in December, playing three arena shows. You can watch a compilation video of the 10 best Coldplay tracks by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

Meanwhile, frontman Chris Martin has defended his collaboration with Rihanna and pointed to Kanye West for influencing his decision.

He added:
Don't you think that music now shouldn't fall into a particular box? I don't think anyone thinks like that any more, You don't see so many goths, hippies, rockers and hip hoppers any more. People like Kanye West are changing the way we all listen and the internet.
