Coldplay have begun work on their next album, dismissing reports that they would take a minimum of three years away from the music scene.

Frontman Chris Martin had previously suggested the band would be going on a break, telling an audience in Australia recently that the group would be away for three years. However, in a new interview with the Daily Star, Martin clarified the situation and explained that he meant there would be no world tour for a number of years but that he is already hard at work on writing songs for the next Coldplay album. Explaining that he has been energised by the success of 'Mylo Xyloto', Martin told the paper: ''I've been writing songs and I'm so fired up about the band's future."

Martin goes on to add: ''I'm fortunate to do what I do and no way do I want to stop. This three-year break idea only came about because I said at a gig in Australia that we might not be back there for three years. ''That's probably true, but that's just how a world tour works. No chance are we taking a three-year break.''

Coldplay last spoke about their next album when they promised fans that the title of the album will be easier to pronounce than 2011 album 'Mylo Xyloto'. Chris Martin told Australian radio station 2dayfm: "The next one we're releasing is much easier to pronounce."

When pushed by presenters Kyle and Jackie O to reveal if they had come up with a name for their sixth studio album, Martin said, "I can't tell you that," before turning to guitarist Jonny Buckland and asking, "Can I give a hint?" Buckland shook his head and said, "No".

Meanwhile, Coldplay released their new concert film Live 2012 earlier this month. The DVD, Blu-Ray and CD also features an 'interactive live e-book', described in the marketing blurb as "an in-depth and interactive audio-visual companion piece to Live 2012," and set to feature photographs, videos, Chris Martin's studio journal and more.
