Coldplay unveil new single 'A Sky Full Of Stars' - listen

The Avicii produced track is the second single from the forthcoming 'Ghost Stories'

Coldplay have shared 'A Sky Full Of Stars', the second single to come from their new album, 'Ghost Stories'.

The Avicii produced track follows the previously released 'Magic' and will be available to download on May 3. Click above to hear the song. 'Ghost Stories' is Coldplay's sixth album and will be released on May 19.

The band yesterday announced they had hidden envelopes containing frontman Chris Martin's handwritten song lyrics in libraries around the world. Fans of the band can try and find the lyric sheets via instructions from the official Coldplay Twitter account. As each one is discovered, a photo of the lyric sheet will be posted online, for all of the band's fans to see. One of the hidden envelopes also contains a special Golden Ticket, containing travel and tickets to see the band perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London on July 1, one of a handful of special gigs to launch the album.

Martin took part in an in-depth interview with BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe last night (April 28), in which he spoke about working with Avicii on 'A Sky Full Of Stars' and about how he felt like he was cheating on the band when he asked Avicii to play piano on the track. The singer also suggested that X Factor boy band One Direction are the biggest band in the world. Martin said: "I think One Direction are the biggest band in the world, their songs are great. I'm saying One Direction are brilliant and I'm not kidding.

"You know why? Because their songs are really good and I don't think that any of them are going to go solo. I think they appreciate their chemistry from watching their movie."

Elsewhere in the interview, Martin said that the band's new album 'Ghost Stories' was "42 minutes on an emotional treadmill". The singer said that "although it starts off seeming like a heartbreak record" the album is actually about realisation and acceptance.

Coldplay will play:

New York Beacon Theatre, USA (May 5)
Los Angeles Royce Hall, USA (May 19)
Glasgow Green, Radio 1's Big Weekend, UK (May 24)
Paris Casino de Paris, France (May 28)
Tokyo Dome City Hall, Japan (June 12)
London Royal Albert Hall, UK (July 1)
