SUED FOR A COOLIO MILLION
Dominic Aldridge wants his share of the rapper's royalties...
Aldridge claimed in a Los Angeles court on Friday (September 29) that the rapper, real name Artis Ivey, is withholding fees and royalties based on three tracks: 'Wild Wild West', 'Money' and 'The Winner', according to US website Allstar.
He claims that he was due $7,500 for 'Wild Wild West' and $10,000 for each of the others, according to a verbal contract. He also claims he was to receive a percentage of the suggested retail price of all copies of any LP that contained the compositions, as well as royalties on foreign sales, record clubs, budget lines and promotional merchandise. The deals were reported to have been struck between 1995 and 1997.
Aldridge's lawsuit claims that he was promised royalty payments twice a year, but had so far received nothing. The basis of the lawsuit is breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, fraud, and imposition of constructive trust and accounting.
