CORNERSHOP SLAM SPLIT CLAIMS

Cornershop have told NME.COM exclusively that they are NOT splitting up, despite the loss of their record deal with WIIIJA and reports in the tabloid press that singer TJINDER SINGH is quitting the music business.

A report in yesterday's (October 1) Sun newspaper stated that Singh told friends he is disgusted with the music industry, and is planning to retire from music completely.

However, today Singh and bandmate Ben Ayres issued a statement to NME.COM which read:

"Tjinder certainly does believe continuing in the music industry, even more
so as 'the climate has changed from 'Opportunity Knocks' to Lets Knock Up Some
Opportunity.'

"At the moment Tjinder is working with reggae group The Nazarites & The Guig (Paul McGuigan, former Oasis bassist), light & film pioneers The Light Surgeons, turntablist Danny Breaks, Ed O.G., Rowetta & Bez, Mani, Jeffrey Lewis (NYC), a gospel trio, Everett True, and Otis Clay again."

Ayres offered further clarification by contacting NME.COM to say: "I can categorically state that [a][/a]have not split up."
