Courtney Love has been sentenced to six months in rehab for violating conditions of her probation.

At the singer’s latest court hearing on Friday (September 16), Judge Rand S Rubin formally sentenced Love to 180 days in the county jail for the probation violation, but said she will instead spend that time at an in-house rehab program after confirming she has made progress over the last month at a similar facility.

Smiling at the singer Judge Rubin said: “I’m very pleased with your progress. I think this is an excellent first step on the road to recovery.”

As previously reported, Love appeared in court last month where she admitted violating the terms of her probation on three criminal charges by taking drugs.

At that hearing the Judge Rubin indicated he had been planning to send the singer to jail for the offence, but instead sent her to an in-house rehab program, where she has spent the last 28 days.

Yesterday the Judge confirmed that time will now count towards the 180 days Love must serve, before extending the singer’s probationary period to 18 months.

Before leaving the courtroom, the singer thanked the judge.
