Courtney Love has said that she would like either Ryan Gosling or James McAvoy to star as her late husband Kurt Cobain in the forhtcoming biopic about his life.

Speaking on US chat show The View, Love, who is co-producing the movie, spoke about how she was trying to decide between the two.

"He looks like [if] Edward Norton and Kurt had a baby," she said of British actor McAvoy. She didn't, however, say if she had approached either actor about being in the film.

Love went on to say that even though she is part-producing the film about Cobain, she would probably never see it, as it would be too painful to watch.

The as-yet-untitled film is set to be a joint venture from the Universal and Working Title production companies.

Oren Moverman - who co-wrote the Bob Dylan biopic 'I'm Not There' - will be directing and re-writing David Benioff's original script, which was based on the 2002 Cobain biography Heavier Than Heaven by Charles Cross.
