Courtney Love has not had control of Kurt Cobain's image since 2010, according to reports.

The Fix claims to have obtained documents that show Love agreed to step down as acting manager of the business responsible for Cobain's publicity rights, End of Music LLC, after receiving a $2.75 million loan from the trust fund of pair's daughter Frances Bean in 2010.

According to the report, this gave 19-year-old Frances Bean control of the publicity rights for the Nirvana icon’s name, likeness and appearance until Love repays the money.

The report also claims that Love has no control over Cobain's or Nirvana's music, which is 100 per cent controlled by Primary Wave Music CEO Larry Mestel. Love recently claimed that she owned the rights to Cobain's music and has the power to approve whether they can be used in commercial projects when she accused The Muppets of "raping" the legacy of Cobain by using the classic Nirvana track 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' in the 2011 film The Muppets.

Last year, Love reportedly signed a deal to pen her own memoir. It is thought that the book will "set the record straight" about her marriage to Cobain, her career as a rock star and actress, and her relationships with other celebrities.
