Courtney Love says she wants to work with Jay Z
Hole singer says the rapper was impressed with her '99 Problems' cover
Speaking to NY Mag, the Hole singer said she was eager to have a more "modern" sounding track on her forthcoming album and that she would "love" the chance to collaborate with the rapper.
Asked for a progress report on the new LP, she said: "We have the single, which comes out when my book comes out this winter. But we're missing a song that's modern... I would love to do a duet with Jay Z. Wouldn't that be great? Gwyneth asked him if he heard my version of '99 Problems' and he said it was brilliant, so...". Love also said that Katy Perry "bores" her and described Lady Gaga as "cool", although she dismissed the idea that the 'ARTPOP' singer may have been influenced by her music by stating: "No, not at all. She's been around gay guys her whole life, and I think she's finally trying to get her own identity and find out who she is."
In July of this year, Courtney Love said that her new album was sounding "great" and "epic". The LP has a working title of 'Died Blonde' and will be put out towards the end of 2013 to coincide with the release of her memoir, which reportedly has a working title of Last Bitch Standing.
In May, meanwhile, Love revealed that she had advertised for a bassist on internet listings site Craigslist and had received only one response. "I put an ad on Craigslist that said, 'Band in the style of Hole looking for bassist in the style of Melissa Auf der Maur," she said. "I got exactly one response. There's just not a lot of chick bass players."
The singer's new album will be released under her own name rather than as Hole, like she did with her 2010 album, 'Nobody's Daughter'. She said: "My name symbolises a lot of things, and I have to sit in these rooms with lawyers and be called a 'brand' often, so I was just like, 'Fucking name it after me!' I don't care." Her debut solo studio LP, 'Nobody's Daughter', was released in 2004.
