Courtney Love played a tiny gig yesterday (May 3) at Hayden Wylds Coffee and Records in Clapton, east London.

Fans queued all day to try and get into the 40-capacity store and before the gig, the singer went out to the street to chat to fans. For the show, fans stood by the cake counter next to a mic set up at the front of the store.

Love played a career-spanning set with back up guitar provided by Micko Larkin, formerly of Larrikin Love, including 'Malibu', 'Miss World', 'Northern Star' and current single 'Wedding Day', after which she commented: "I fucking love that song!" She also played covers of Leonard Cohen's 'Take This Longing' and Pearl Jam's 'Jeremy', saying that she was going to play The Boomtown Rats' 'I Don't Like Mondays' as a tribute to the late Peaches Geldof, daughter of singer Bob Geldof, but that they would save that for their forthcoming show at London Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Picking up a guitar to play 'Doll Parts', she asked what the chords to the song were, before telling the crowd: "My hairdresser told me I had four grey hairs. I've named them after all the people who have given them to me. Most of them were lawyers." Receiving massive cheers after the song, she commented: "You know I didn't do a good job but that's the charm". She finished the set with 'Northern Star', jumping on the cafe counter for a version of the 'Celebrity Skin' track.

Courtney Love releases her double A-side single 'Wedding Day'/'You Know My Name' today (May 4). Love then tours the UK, playing nine dates, starting with two shows at London Shepherd's Bush Empire on May 11-12, finishing at Newcastle Riverside on May 22.

Courtney Love played:

'Honey'
'Malibu'
'Pacific Coast Highway'
'Dying'
'Doll Parts'
'Jeremy'
'Wedding Day'
'Take This Longing'
'Miss World'
'How Dirty Girls Get Clean'
'Northern Star'
