Courtney Love is to join the cast of Sons Of Anarchy ahead of the shows final season.

Love will appear in the US drama series, which focuses on a biker gang based in California, when the seventh season begins later this year (2014). TV Line reports that she will play Mrs Harrison, a teacher at the school of Abel, the eldest son of lead character Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam).

Mrs Harrison will appear in multiple episode of Sons Of Anarchy, beginning from the fourth episode, and will play a "pivotal" part in the series as it comes to an end.

The role marks Love's first major acting role since she appeared in Trapped in 2002. The musician and actress has previously played roles in The People Vs Larry Flynt and Man On The Moon.

Meanwhile, Love recently claimed that Kurt Cobain wrote to numerous record labels in a "desperate" bid to become a successful rock star.

The comments made by Cobain's ex-wife in a National Geographic mini-series The '90s: The Last Great Decade and fly in the face of the Nirvana frontman's image of an ethically minded musician whose exposure to the mainstream left him feeling cold and alienated.

These latest comments from Love follow a period in recent times that has even seen her go as far as to say that she thinks it's "time to make amends" with Cobain's former bandmate, Dave Grohl.
