DOLORES PROMISES PISS-TAKING ALBUM

New record and tour confirmed for early next year...

DOLORES PROMISES PISS-TAKING ALBUM

THE CRANBERRIES' new album is called 'Promises' and will be more upbeat than the band's previous efforts, according to singer DOLORES O'RIORDAN.

Following U2's assertion that their new album will convey a feeling of "joy", Dolores told MTV last week: "There's a lot of bizarre material on it. There's a lot of strange songs. In the early days, when the band started, we used to have and write more funny, freaky songs. But by the third album, I think we were too much in the limelight and we felt too freaked out, so the writing got a little bit sensible there for a while. Now it's sort of silly again, with a sense of humour and a little bit of piss-taking."

The album, which will be released early next year, is the follow-up to 1996's 'To The Faithful Departed'. It was recorded in London, Canada and France with producer BENEDICT FENNER.

The band plan to tour the UK around the time of its release.
