Crystal Castles, Magnetic Man, Everything Everything and The Vaccines wrapped up the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour 2011 in London last night (February 19).
Having kicked off the tour in Glasgow at the start of the month, the bands ended the jaunt with the biggest show of the run, at the O2 Academy Brixton.
Crystal Castles singer Alice Glass started the tour performing on crutches after aggravating an ankle injury, and again needed her standing aids for the band’s headline set. However, this didn’t stop her indulging in a bit of crowdsurfing during the Toronto duo's set.
The Vaccines attracted a large crowd despite their 7:20pm start time, while the venue was almost full as Everything Everything played next.
As well as leading his band through a set including 'MY KZ YR BF' and 'Photoshop Handsome', frontman Jonathan Everything returned to help Magnetic Man out with their bass-heavy set.
The singer took on lead vocal duties on the band’s single ’Getting Nowhere’ – the recorded version of which features John Legend.
Crystal Castles then marked their headline set with a surprise burst of black confetti fired from cannons during ’Celestica’ as they rounded up the evening and the 2011 tour.
Carl Barat plays a Shockwaves NME Awards show at the London 100 Club tonight (20).
The Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony takes place on Wednesday (23), also at the O2 Academy Brixton.
