DA BRAT SENTENCED AFTER GUILTY PLEA

DA BRAT is reported to have been sentenced to 12 months probation, 80 hours' community service and fined $1,000 at a court in ATLANTA on Monday (June 11) after pleading guilty to "reckless conduct."

According to the Atlanta Journal & Constitution, the rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, pistol-whipped a woman in the VIP lounge at the Chili Peppers nightclub in Buckhead, Atlanta, on March 8 last year.

The victim, Rezue Robateue, had to have three stitches to cuts on her face. The newspaper says that, according to police, the incident occurred after Da Brat's followers told Robateue to leave the VIP area and she refused.

Fulton County District Attorney office spokesperson Erik Friedly said that prosecutors agreed to reduce the charge from the more serious "aggravated assault," which could carry a jail sentence, to "reckless conduct" after Da Brat agreed to plead guilty.
