Daft Punk movie set for North American screenings

Daft Punk’s movie ‘Electroma’ is set for a number of North American screenings in advance of its release on DVD later this year.

The movie, which centers around “two robots who journey across a mythic American landscape on a quest to become human” is a silent feature-length production which debuted at last year’s Cannes film festival.

The movie is the debut feature directed by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christoaka aka Daft Punk. The duo’s music videos have been directed by some of the industry’s most renowned music video directors including Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze.

Their second album ‘Discovery’ was conceived as the soundtrack to the anime film ‘Interstella 5555’, which they wrote and produced, in collaboration with Japanese artist Leiji Matsumoto.

The screenings will take place at:

Toronto, ON Xpace @ Midnight (June 14)
Calgary, AB Stride Gallery (Sled Island Festival) (28)
Los Angeles, CA New Beverly Cinema (29)
Miami, Studio A (July 29)
Montreal, QC Osheaga Festival (September 8,9)
