Nile Rodgers: 'I almost had to kick Daft Punk out of my house'

But Chic man says their collaboration will be 'real' and 'amazing'

Nile Rodgers has claimed that he was nearly forced to kick Daft Punk out of his house when they stopped by for a jamming session.

Yesterday (February 8), it was reported that the French electronic duo were in talks with the Chic guitarist to work on their new album. Now, in an interview with Faster Louder, Rodgers – who has previously lent his production skills to the likes of David Bowie and Madonna – revealed that they had spent the day "dancing around my dining room".

"We were just jamming at my house, but it's gonna be proper and real," he said. "They came over today around breakfast time and now it's evening. I basically had to almost kick them out.

"We were having so much fun just in an informal setting that we decided to make it formal," he continued. "And it's very formal. It's gonna be amazing…"

He went on to add:

Every track they played I just ran across the room and got my guitar and started playing and we were all dancing around my dining room having the time of our lives. It was something that was meant to be.

In January last year, Rodgers revealed that he had been fighting an aggressive form of cancer, but announced that he was free of the disease in March of the same year.

Daft Punk released their last album, the soundtrack to the film Tron: Legacy, in 2010. A remix of the album was released in April 2011, but the band's former manager Busy P condemned the project, stating: "A masterpiece like Tron:Legacy soundtrack deserved the best and I am sad to discover the A&R at Disney is apparently buying most of his electronic music in airports stores."

Meanwhile, in August last year, a demo from the duo's 1994 LP 'Drive' was uncovered by Scottish electronic label Soma Records.
