According to the Official Charts Company's sales data, 2013 looks set to be the biggest year for singles sales in British history.

Purchases of singles are up 2.5 percent on the same period last year, which set the record for the most number of singles sold. This year's figures are helped by the strong performance of 'Get Lucky' by Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, which has sold over a million copies, and Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines', which also features Pharrell Williams and has sold more than 828,000 copies. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' 'Thrift Shop' is third in overall sales, with more than 680,000 copies sold.

Daft Punk also make a strong showing in the top selling albums of 2013 so far, with their 'Random Access Memories' at Number 5. Emeli Sande's 'Our Version Of Events' – released in 2012 – is the biggest selling artist album of the year, following compilation album 'Now That's What I Call Music 84' at Number 1. Sande's album has racked up 658,000 sales this year.
