Your 10:30 gossip stop: Shirley's champers, Franz Ferdinand go gigging

Welcome to The Daily Ligger, your morning stop-off to find out who in the world of indie and rock has been up to what, and where.

First up, Liam Gallagher was spotted wearing a Crazy Frog-style motorbike helmet when he went to a pub in Primrose Hill to watch the Russia - England game.

“I’m glad they lost,” he said. “They all get paid too much.”

Arctic Monkeys’ favourite Dame Shirley Bassey demanded champagne and “man-sized tissues” backstage at London’s Fashion Rocks party at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Gossip’s Beth Ditto had performed at the show.

Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding was seen boozing at London’s Sketch nightclub.

Finally, Nick McCarthy and Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand were spotted at the Heaven nightclub checking out Von Sudenfed – the new Mark E Smith-fronted band.

Smith, however, had a bit of trouble getting backstage at his own gig – the security guard blocking his way was overheard saying “what is Fall?” when he tried to explain who he was.
