Your daily music gossip stop: Slash gets arty, REM heart Mika

Welcome to the Daily Ligger: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what.

Today’s top gossip:

Lily Allen stayed up until 4am on New Year’s Eve, DJ-ing at London’s Cordy House venue for famous faces such as Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell and Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke. The pregnant star didn’t touch a drop of booze (Daily Mirror).

From the papers:

More Lily Allen gossip: the singer headed to a London clinic for a pregnancy check-up yesterday (January 2). She has said her baby will go to a state school despite her own private school education (The Sun).

Legendary guitarist Slash drew a moustache and goatee on a picture of Debbie Harry at Virgin Radio’s London HQ (The Sun).

REM’s Michael Stipe has bigged up Mika, calling him a “really great songwriter” (Daily Star).
