The Killers' Brandon Flowers has blamed Nirvana and Kurt Cobain for making rock music depressing. Despite the seminal grunge frontman dying almost 15 years ago to the day (he took his life on April 5, 1994), Flowers lambasted Cobain. "I don't mean it in a bad way but I think Kurt Cobain and grunge took the fun out of rock and roll," he said. However, Flowers says that he thinks his band is now making American music "a lot more playful and brighter" (Daily Star).

Pete Townshend is divorcing his wife of 40-years, Karen Astley. The couple originally split in 1994, and Townshend now lives with his girlfriend Rachel Fuller (The Sun).

The Rakes' singer Alan Donohue slept with a knife next to his bed while recording the band's new album 'Klang' in Germany (Daily Star).

The uncle of the child at the centre of Madonna's adoption case has said he will back the singer by opposing custody attempts against the child's natural father (The Sun).

Gareth Gates has become a father (Daily Star).

Chris Martin took his children to Disneyland in California (The Sun).

Nirvana were resposible for the last interesting period in American rock music. And it was fun- fun music for otherwise bored kids, and fun not having to listen to generic, polished, shit 80s pop music that was about as 'fun' as watching madonna take a dump.What a stupid thing to say.

What a cock Flowers is. The Killers first album is great, well take that back, the first six songs are but it went doen hill from there, and what a cheek he has to slag off the legend that is Kurt Cobain.

Plus Nirvana aint a happy, clappy band like the killers. Lets face it, brendon wants killers to be bigger then Nirvana, but it aint going to happen. Nirvana were Legensd, and the killers will always be known as Rock-Pop.

Dear Mr Flowers, Being a Nirvana fan i am surely writing this whilst in the corner taking heroin and slitting my wrists.We're not all cheery, peacock plumage wearing, annoying pop dance alongs with flowers in our hair and flowers in our name.some of us have other emotions aswell, some would call it a "range" of emotion, so we can be happy OR sad, and the music we listen to or make reflects that.Thanks ever so much for shitting on the grave of a music revolutionary, but if you wouldn't mind skipping back off to happy land and fucking yourself, it would be much appreciated.Yours sincerily, A lambasted grunge fan.

Now - I know all you Nirvana fans are gonna slag me now, but.. whilst i'm not a massive fan of the killers either, Nirvana weren't as amazing as everyone makes out. I always say that, as an artist 'death does wonders for your career'. I ask plenty of Nirvana fans would they have been big 10 years later if he was still alive... Most are delusional and say ofcourse, but others have a bit of 'level thinking' and say probably not. Trust me, think of all the musicians who death has helped immortalize. Here's another example, Lennon and Mccartney.... Now clearly, both are legends but just because Lennon is dead he's more of a legend.... They're both equally great and it's a shame peoples views get clouded!

C'mon give him a break! Brandon's amazingly talented and so what if he speaks his mind? He didn't even mean it in a bad way, and I agree with him! Grunge was fairly depressing. He's definitly one of the best front men today, and.. so now its a crime to be happy? to NOT want to depress poeple!? He's a nice person, who writes good songs. Life isn't all cheery for him I hope you's know. He has a mum who has a brain tumour. So I hope your all happy. At least he doesn't go on about that in all of his songs.

Bollocks, the Foo Fighters aren't a patch on Nirvana, I think Jimmy-Bass is just saying that cause he wants to chug ratcatcher, The Foo's are same old same old, the first couple of albums were good though.

Jimmy-Bass the most overrated band in history is Radiohead, fucking moaning one eyed freak and Nirvana piss all over the Foo Fighters, dont get me wrong Dave Grohl is a cool guy and works bloody hard, but as a front man he doesnt to Kurt Cobain and he would be the first to admit it. Nirvana and the Killers simply dont compare, its like comparing Kelly Brook to the fat bird out of the gossip.
