Starsailor: 'We ruined Phil Spector's reputation' - Daily Gossip

The Kooks, Bono, Alex Turner – your music gossip stop

Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what.

Today’s top gossip:

Starsailor's James Walsh has said he was told by Phil Spector's manager that his band wrecked the legendary producer's credibility when they fired him in 2003. Spector, who was convicted of second degree murder on Sunday (April 13), was due to produce Starsailor's second album, 'Silence Is Easy', but Walsh says the band binned all but two tracks because the sessions were too fraught.
"His manager was very emotional, saying 'Look what you are doing to his reputation,'" Walsh said, adding, "It is a shame we have become the last band Phil worked with" (Daily Mirror).

From the papers:

Amy Winehouse has told reporters not to mention hubby Blake Fielder-Civil's name (Daily Star).

Bono has started wearing a layer of thick black eyeliner because he thinks it makes him look like "Elvis's dead brother, Jesse" (Daily Mirror).

Alex Turner's girlfriend Alexa Chung is moving to New York (Daily Star).

Luke Pritchard won a new admirer in the form of Katy Perry, after the 'I Kissed A Girl' singer spotted him backstage at her New York Irving Plaza gig. Perry dashed over to The Kooks singer to get to know him a little better (The Sun).

Keane are ditching the UK to concentrate on the US because they are sick of being labelled posh. "Over there they make judgements solely on the music," singer Tom Chaplin said (Daily Star).

Beyonce is considering taking legal action to stop people pretending to be her on Twitter (The Sun).

Estelle has started work on her new album (Daily Star).

People don't label Keane 'posh', they label them 'shit'

I can think of several other and even more effective ways that I could help Bono to look like Elvis's dead brother Jesse. Get the sanctimonious arse piece to give me a call.

say what you want about Phil Spector as a man he was, is and forever will be one of the greatest producers of all time.starsailors decent into mediocrity begun closely after they dismissed this bona fide genius and decided to ignore his input.to now try and boost their credibility and fame off the back of Spectors criminal conviction is not only a very low and desperate move it's also very ghoulish considering what he has been convicted of.if these idiots think people are going to see them as some kind of forward thinking visionaries who knew Spector was a violent crackpot and sacked him accordingly they are sorely mistaken.they are still the idiots who scuttled their own careers by sacking one of the true geniuses the music industry was lucky to have.

"Hey! That Phil Spector guy who we worked with briefly a few years ago is up the creak without a paddle (and all over the news). Lets get as much publicity out of this so we can try and revive our flagging career for our sub-McIndie dirge music!"YAWN!!

Starsailor comments are very harsh - its only natural the press will contact the last people to work with Spector to get a story. You only have to look at the message board on their website to see they have a loyal fan base.
