Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what.
Today’s top gossip:
John Barnes is up for re-doing his rap for New Order's World Cup anthem 'World In Motion', the band's Peter Hook has confirmed. Bassist Hook says the band get offered the chance to re-release the song – originally used in the 1990 event – at most World Cup campaigns, though this year Barnes has said he'd definitely be on board for contributing too. Hook added that in previous years other footballers have been approached about performing the rap, with David Beckham coming close in 2002 only for the FA not to allow him at the last minute.
"Tony Wilson lined up Beckham to do the rap and we were going to re-do the song," Hook explained. "But the FA then reconsidered it saying 'No, no, no we're going with Ant & Dec'." The FA are set to confirm more details about England's official World Cup 2010 song around the time of the tournament draw, which takes place in December (The Sun).
From the papers:
Florence And The Machine have lost their equipment after the trailer carrying it caught fire as they travelled between gigs in Germany. Though the band were obviously gutted about losing their instruments, singer Florence Welch says she found inspiration from the situation. "You could hear the harp's strings ping in the fire," she explained. "Strange sound. We recorded it and I want to use it in a song" (The Sun).
Lady Gaga covered John Lennon's 'Imagine' at a human rights rally in Washington DC on Saturday. She later joined President Obama at a dinner in aid of the rally (Daily Record).
Katy Perry's ex-boyfriend Travis McCoy has allegedly been telling friends he hopes her romance with Russell Brand doesn't last (Daily Mirror).
Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh says she "can't keep up" with bandmate Sarah Harding when they go out together (The Sun).
Amy Winehouse is continuing to have after-care treatment for her £35,000 breast implants at The London Clinic (various).
Robbie Williams had a Spinal Tap moment during his performance on Sunday's 'X Factor', when the stage door wouldn't open at the start of his performance of new single 'Bodies' (The Sun).
