Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what.

Today’s top gossip:

Richard Ashcroft has bought (and kept) a live turkey – because his son didn't want a dead one at Christmas. "My son has just turned vegetarian," he explained, before revealing that he had purchased "the luckiest turkey in Ledbury". Local butcher Matthew Waller, of DT Waller & Sons, confirmed that the Verve frontman did actually buy the animal live. "It was quite an odd request to take the turkey home alive but we were happy to oblige," he said. Ashcroft and his family have since named the turkey Lucky (various).

From the papers:

Primal Scream bassist Mani also got himself a pet Christmas present - a tortoise, which he's called Usain Bolt. He recently took it to his local pub in Heaton Moor, Manchester in a straw basket (The Sun).

Lady Gaga says she wants to be an honorary member of Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band (The Sun).

Ronnie Wood's ex-girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova says she initially wanted to mother him, because he needed looking after. "I tried to be the perfect housewife and be all, 'Ooh look, I've made you a beef stew', but I wasn't up to it," she explained (The Sun).

Marilyn Manson reportedly proposed to actress girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood midway through his Paris gig yesterday (January 4). Apparently, she said "yes" (Daily Mirror).
