Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what.

Today, we're doing a special Daily Gossip rounding up all the best stories from last night's (February 24) Shockwaves NME Awards, which took place at London's O2 Academy Brixton.

Today's top gossip:

Lily Allen left the Shockwaves NME Awards in tears last night, after having a massive bust-up with Courtney Love at the ceremony. A slanging match erupted between the two singers after Love took offence at comments Allen had supposedly made on Twitter about her daughter Frances Bean Cobain. According to one crew member who witnessed the incident, the two singers were chatting amicably at first, before things "turned really nasty, really aggressive and bitchy". Allen and Love were then pulled apart by their entourages, but both continued the feud from afar, with Love labelling Allen a "little girl" and patronising her by saying "welcome to the music industry". Allen was equally as stand-offish, apparently replying to Love by shouting, "Why the fuck did you say that to me?" before leaving the awards.

From the papers:

One of The Big Pink lost their passport during the ceremony. Aside from the threat of identity theft, it's also put their Australian tour in jeopardy as the band are due to fly out today.

Damon Albarn didn't appear to know who Biffy Clyro were as they passed him to collect their award for Best Video (sponsored by NME TV), despite the band excitedly shaking hands with him.

Courtney Love demanded breath freshener before the awards (bought from Superdrug). Later on, she went to Kasabian's afterparty at Home House. Love turned up to the awards wearing a coat apparently 'borrowed' from Keith Richards.

Lily Allen collapsed in a fit of giggles when she met Slash for the first time.

Despite winning the Best New Band award, Bombay Bicycle Club still had to beg to be let into the aftershow party at nearby Brixton venue Plan B as bouncers didn't recognise them.

The Courteeners' Liam Fray sported a massive cut on his nose, though mysteriously refused to reveal how he came by it.

Fearne Cotton went to Nando's before the awards.

Shane MacGowan walked into the ceremony carrying a pint of whiskey from a nearby pub, and ended it by breaking the smoking ban while slumped at a table with a load of randomers.
