Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what.

Today's top gossip:

Happy Mondays dancer Bez has been released from jail after serving two weeks of a one-month sentence. Bez – real name Mark Berry was convicted last month of attacking his former partner Monica Ward. As he walked out of Strangeways prison he reportedly said: "See you later, lads" (Daily Mirror).

From the papers:

Ex-Oasis leader Noel Gallagher has branded the current wave of indie bands as "dull" and too "clean cut". The guitarist believes it's about time a "new set of proper rock stars came out". "The showbiz scene is so dull these days, everyone's so dull, the old days of wild partying seem to be a thing of the past," he added. "There will definitely be a new wave of coolness, it's just a matter of time" (Daily Star).

Alice Cooper has backed England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney over his alleged affairs with hookers. "If it's not affecting his playing ability, it's none of our business," he said. "He's a professional – a guy who can play through any circumstances" (The Sun).

Lily Allen is reportedly expecting a baby boy. The singer apparently revealed the news of the scan to close friends. "Lily said she found out from a scan she is having a boy," a source said. "She is really excited and can't wait to give birth" (The Sun).

Lady Gaga is planning to release a new book which will feature her most intimate moments backstage on her 'Monster Ball' tour. The singer has teamed up with snapper Terry Richardson for the collection. "He wanted to look at who I am offstage," she said. "He follows me everywhere." Meanwhile, the singer has been shot with cuts of red meat strewn across her naked body on the cover of Japan's Vogue Men magazine (Daily Record).
