Rihanna 'touch and go' for Brit Awards ceremony - Daily Gossip

La Roux's Grammy hassle, Gaga hangs with Willow Smith - your music gossip stop

Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out what the stars of the music world have been up to in the tabloids and beyond, with the help of plenty of "anonymous sources".

Today's top gossip:

Rihanna is a doubt for tonight’s Brit Awards ceremony - according to the red-tops.

The singer has reportedly been diagnosed with laryngitis and may not make it to the O2 Arena to perform at the show. An anonymous source said: "She is really ill. It’s touch and go about the Brits.”

As a result of being struck down with the lurgy, Rihanna has been ordered to keep chatting to a minimum and has a doctor on standby to give her vitamin shots in her bottom to boost her chances of performing. That’s dedication (Daily Mirror).

From the papers and beyond:

In more Brit Awards gossip, Alexandra Burke has said she plans to hit the bar hard, telling the media: “Trouble's my middle name. I got completely hammered last year and am planning on doing the same again this time” (The Sun).

Plan B, meanwhile, has said he "doesn’t care" if he wins a Brit. "I don't care if I win or not," he said. "An award will help me sell more records but why would I care if I sell more records? I'm not making money out of record sales. Artists don't - the label does" (The Sun).

More bad news for Rihanna - the stricken singer looks to be facing a new lawsuit, as legendary photographer and video director David LaChapelle has apparently issued the singer with a writ. He’s unhappy with her video for 'S&M', or 'Come On' as it’s called in the daytime. According to his legal challenge “the music video is directly derived from and substantially similar to the LaChapelle works". As if the track needed to be any more controversial… (Entertainment Weekly).

La Roux might have been celebrating last night after the band picked up a Grammy for Best Electronic Dance Album, but singer Elly Jackson very nearly didn't make it inside the Los Angeles Staples Center at all. She told the tabs: “We spent two hours trying to find someone to get us there [inside the ceremony]. The security didn't like us. It’s been a total nightmare" (Daily Star).

Although Lady Gaga’s spectacular Grammys entrance in an egg got a fair amount of coverage in the papers, she’s also been pictured with one Willow Smith sat on her lap. Fashion tips probably weren’t the topic of conversation (Daily Record).

The shock of little-known jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding winning the Grammy for Best New Artist was too much to take for some of Justin Bieber’s more rabid fans. Some have taken to the internet and issued Spalding death threats (various).

Despite the unpleasant rumblings last week about there being no 2011 tour from The Rolling Stones, guitarist Ronnie Wood has clearly lost none of his love for his bandmates. Wood broke off partying early on Sunday night to make sure he was home in time to watch Mick Jagger perform at the Grammys. He told the media he “wouldn’t miss Mick [Jagger] for the world" (Daily Mirror).

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Steps are in talks to reform for a one-off charity gig later this year. According to our friend "anonymous source", "Faye [Tozer], Lisa [Scott-Lee] and Lee [Latchford-Evans] all previously said they were up for a reunion while Claire [Richards] and H [real name: Ian Watkins] took a bit more persuasion" (The Sun).
